Terms of Use

Last updated June 2026

These terms govern your use of Chorus (“the app”), made by One Point Two One Consulting Ltd (“we”, “us”). By downloading, installing, or using Chorus you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the app.

Plain-language summary: buy one licence per Mac, don’t resell or pirate it, and understand that transcription is a best-effort tool you’re responsible for using lawfully. The app is provided as-is.

1. Licence

When you purchase Chorus, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the app on one (1) Mac that you own or control. The licence covers all 1.x versions of Chorus, including free updates delivered through the app. A future major version may require a separate paid upgrade.

A 14-day free trial is available before purchase, with full functionality. When the trial ends, capturing and transcribing new audio is disabled until you buy a licence; transcripts you already saved remain readable and exportable.

2. What you may not do

You may not resell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute the app or your licence key; circumvent the trial or licensing; or reverse-engineer the app except to the extent that law expressly permits.

3. Acceptable and lawful use

Chorus records and transcribes audio. You are solely responsible for using it lawfully, including obtaining any consent required by the laws of your jurisdiction before recording or transcribing a conversation. Recording-consent laws vary; many places require all parties to consent. Do not use Chorus to record people without the consent the law requires.

4. Privacy

Chorus processes audio on your device and does not transmit your audio or transcripts to us. See the Privacy Policy for the full description of the app’s limited network use.

5. Third-party components

Chorus includes open-source components (including FluidAudio under Apache-2.0 and Sparkle) and uses Apple’s on-device speech frameworks. Their licences and attributions are listed in the app’s Acknowledgments and govern those components.

6. No warranty

Chorus is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and accuracy. Speech transcription and speaker separation are inherently imperfect; do not rely on a Chorus transcript as a verbatim or legal record.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) Chorus. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app.

8. Refunds

If Chorus doesn’t work for you, the 14-day trial is the time to find out. If something is wrong, contact chorus@onepointtwoone.com and we’ll work it out. Payments and refunds are processed by our reseller, Paddle.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the current version is always posted here with its date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
