Privacy Policy
In one sentence: Chorus transcribes your calls entirely on your Mac. Your audio and transcripts never leave your device, and Chorus collects no analytics or personal data.
This policy explains exactly what Chorus does and does not do with your data. It is written to be read, not to cover lawyers. If anything here is unclear, email me at chorus@onepointtwoone.com.
What stays on your Mac
- Your audio. The call audio Chorus captures and your microphone input are processed in real time on-device and are never recorded to a server or transmitted anywhere.
- Your transcripts. Transcripts are saved as files on your Mac, in your Application Support folder, under your control. They are never uploaded.
- Your settings and licence. Stored locally (preferences in macOS defaults; your licence in the system Keychain).
The only times Chorus uses the network
Chorus processes all audio locally and never transmits your content. It contacts the network only for these specific, non-content purposes:
- First-run model download. On first use, Chorus downloads the on-device speech model (from Apple) and a small speaker-separation model (from Hugging Face). These are general-purpose models — they contain nothing about you, and your audio is never sent to obtain them.
- Update checks. Chorus periodically checks a signed update feed
(
appcast.xml) to see if a new version is available. This is a simple file fetch; it sends no information about you or your usage. - Licence validation. When you activate a purchased licence, Chorus contacts the licensing service to bind your licence to your Mac. After that, your licence validates offline. This exchanges your licence key and a machine identifier — never your audio or transcripts.
That is the complete list. Chorus sends no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports, and no usage data. There is no account to create.
Data you can delete at any time
Transcripts are yours. In Settings → Transcripts you can set how long transcripts are kept (including “forever”) and delete all saved transcripts at once. Uninstalling Chorus and removing its Application Support folder removes everything it has stored.
Permissions
Chorus requests Microphone, System Audio Recording, and Accessibility access. These let it include your voice, capture call audio, and type the transcript into the focused field. The audio grant is the audio-only kind (“System Audio Recording Only”) — Chorus has no access to your screen. All three are used only for those purposes, on your Mac. See Help.
Children
Chorus is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Material changes affecting how data is handled will be noted in the app’s release notes.
